Samsung Is Investing Vastly in AI with the New Galaxy S24

These devices bring some novel features to the Galaxy series.

Samsung officially announced the new Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra today, Jan. 17 at Unpacked 2024. New phone announcements are always intriguing, and these devices add some fresh features to the Galaxy lineup.

Galaxy AI

Samsung's S24 series is all about AI, which may come as no surprise. Samsung is specifically calling its technology "Galaxy AI."

One of Samsung's primary goals with Galaxy AI was Live Translate, a function that employs on-device AI to translate speech and text during phone calls. Samsung recommends utilising Interpreter while you're face-to-face conversing. This feature divides your Galaxy's screen in half, with one half interpreting your end of the discussion and the other translating your friend's.

Like ChatGPT and other chat helpers before it, Chat Assist is a new tool that can try to adjust the tone of your communications to fit the target demographic. Galaxy AI will be used by Android Auto to condense incoming messages and recommend replies. While Transcript Assist may interpret, transcribe, and summarise your voice notes, Note Assist in Samsung Notes will summarise notes and build templates.

Because the Ultra's vapour chamber is 1.9 times bigger than its predecessor's, it should be able to maintain a lower temperature when performing heavier duties like gaming. The Ultra, like the iPhone 15 Pro, has a titanium frame.

Once more, AI is everything this year, and the photography industry is no exception. Samsung's AI photography features are consolidated into a single "ProVisual Engine," included in all new Galaxy S24 phones.

Samsung is now providing far longer software support than Google did for its earlier phones. The S24 range receives seven years of support in all categories, however the S23 only receives four years of OneUI support and five years of security updates.
